The barbed wire taunted me with the pointy, sharp teeth
“Come over, come over…” its thorny voice assured me
it wanted me to cross but i will never, for I’ll be shot dead,
still it called suddenly the command came
the wire smiled its arrowlike smirk
for today it will see my blood drain
we clambered up the trench
the mud hugged my boot begging me to not go
bullets whistled while they flew through the air
it snapped
my leg dipped down like a bird with no wings
the mud embraced my head as i fell
all was over now
the wire got its way.
Your such a great poet Brenna! The poem is short but descriptive, so it made the poem come out with a 'BANG'. Good Job! :)
